Fair trade is in fashion. While the wealth gap between the North and South has never been bigger, a new burst of solidarity is overtaking Western countries. But what exactly is fair trade? Is it a way to fairly distribute wealth, or a new ‘marketing’ rip-off ? When faced with no-holdsbarred productivity, what can be done to prevent producer countries from getting poorer and stop environmental degradation? Through three practical case studies, we will see how some producers are still making the most of what they have.
